Kalyan is Plougshare’s VP of Climate, Environment, and Sustainability Commercialisation, leading the technology transfer process for inventions emerging from public and private sector organisations that support environmentally-focussed innovation, research, and progress. He plays a critical role in building technology portfolios that translate scientific breakthroughs into impactful commercial ventures, supporting Ploughshare’s ongoing growth.
Kalyan also serves as a Non-executive Advisor at a management consultancy, and sits on the Advisory Board of a technology incubator, championing the development of sustainable innovations across multiple sectors. He holds a PhD in nanotechnology from the University of Cambridge and has completed senior executive training in Strategy and Innovation at MIT and IMD. Kalyan’s global experience spans the UK, Europe, the USA, Israel, Singapore, China, and Southeast Asia, enabling him to craft and deliver open innovation ecosystems in collaboration with governments, industry, and research organisations worldwide.
Before joining Ploughshare, Kalyan led corporate venturing strategy at a FTSE 100 chemical company and was the Global Innovation Lead for Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials at UK Research and Innovation, representing UK interests at European Commission committees.
Outside of work, Kalyan is an avid reader with wide interests in innovation, technology, philosophy, and religion, and enjoys exploring diverse culinary experiences.
