Location:

Remote based (UK) with regular national travel and occasional international travel.

About the role:

For those early in their commercialisation journey or ready for their next step.

You will support the assessment and development of digital and data enabled technologies emerging from defence and security research. Working alongside experienced colleagues, you’ll help evaluate markets, shape value propositions and support licensing and early spin‑out activity, with a particular focus on software, data and platform‑based solutions. This is a development‑focused role that offers broad exposure across commercialisation, with coaching and support to help you build confidence, judgement and increasing autonomy over time.

Key responsibilities:

• Evaluate new digital and data‑enabled technologies and assess their commercial potential.
• Conduct market and competitor analysis, with an understanding of digital markets, customers and routes to adoption.
• Prepare value propositions, commercial strategies and early business plans for software, data‑driven or platform‑based technologies.
• Build strong working relationships with inventors, colleagues and external partners.
• Support licensing processes, spin‑out activity and post‑deal management.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to effective commercial pipeline management.

What you will bring:

• A degree or background in a scientific, engineering, digital or data‑focused technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Ability to evidence understanding of technical concepts, particularly relating to software, data or digital systems.
• Ability to evidence communication of technical concepts to a variety of technical and non-technical stakeholders, tailoring messages to different audiences.
• An interest in intellectual property, innovation and digital technology commercialisation.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Good organisation, sound judgement and a willingness to learn.
• Some exposure to commercialisation, business planning, digital innovation or research environments is beneficial.
