Helen is a Senior Commercialisation Manager and Licensing Lead at Ploughshare, combining her technical grounding in mechanical engineering with deep expertise in intellectual property and technology transfer. She plays a key role in managing complex licensing arrangements and building partnerships that bring defence and security innovations into wider markets.
After completing her BEng and MPhil degrees in Mechanical Engineering, and a PhD in Applied Mathematics, her career journey reflects a passion for translating ideas into practical solutions. Early on, Helen worked on pioneering projects such as wearable dialysis machines, sparking her interest in applied technology and industry collaboration. She went on to build a breadth of experience that spans university technology transfer roles across the UK and Ireland, and leadership of the IP function for both large corporations and SMEs in the energy sector. This diverse perspective allows her to guide organisations through the full innovation journey, from initial research to successful commercialisation.
At Ploughshare, Helen draws on this background to support growth by fostering relationships and shaping licensing strategies that maximise the reach and impact of MOD technologies.
Beyond work, Helen enjoys developing her artistic skills across various media, exploring her family history, and quilting – interests that reflect both her creativity and her eye for detail.
