Charlene is a Portfolio Manager within Ploughshare’s Operations team, where she ensures the Ministry of Defence’s (MOD) innovations are strategically managed and primed for commercial success. Joining Ploughshare in 2022, she brought with her nearly two decades of experience from MOD, including 15 years in Dstl’s Intellectual Property (IP) group.
Her career has been centred on guiding technology from inception through protection to exploitation. With deep IP expertise, Charlene has influenced key patent-making decisions and overseen the full lifecycle of intellectual property management. This defence-focused perspective gives her a unique edge in shaping strategies that maximise the value of MOD research.
In her current role, Charlene works closely with the commercialisation team and external clients to identify and unlock opportunities in fast-moving markets, helping ensure novel technologies reach their full potential.
Outside of work, Charlene enjoys family life with her husband and two daughters. She values time spent outdoors and with friends, and unwinds with a mix of reading, crime thriller documentaries, and the occasional guilty pleasure of reality TV.
