Peter is a Commercialisation Manager at Ploughshare, focussed on bridging the gap between public and private sectors to transform government inventions into real-world products. With a background in Aeromechanical Systems Engineering and a PhD focused on the aerodynamics of insect flight, he combines technical expertise with a practical, innovation-driven approach.
Peter spent 12 years at the Ministry of Defence’s (MOD) Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl), gaining experience in software coding and operational analysis. He supported operations in Afghanistan and was seconded to the Royal Navy’s Maritime Warfare Centre. His time at Dstl included unique experiences such as flying low-level in RAF Hercules aircraft, spending time on board Navy ships, and taking off from the aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth in an RAF Chinook.
In 2020, Peter moved to MOD’s Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) as a regional Innovation Partner, working closely with inventors from industry and academia across Southeast England to accelerate innovative ideas into MOD programmes.
A chartered engineer and qualified mediator, Peter is committed to fostering collaboration and guiding technologies through their commercial journey. He lives in Bedfordshire with his wife Lis and his four children and is an active member of a local church. He is a reluctant runner.
